Update

28 May 2020 by Geoff Joshua

Dear TJFC Members

Per my previous message we have great news, training will commence this Sunday May 31!

Returning to play in a safe, hygienic and controlled manner is paramount to the Templestowe JFC. The safety and wellbeing of our participants is and always will be our number one priority and so to that end we have implemented a number of protocols in line with the relevant Victorian State Government and AFL Victoria’s COVID-19 guidelines so that we can return to training safely.

Below we have outlined our training and hygiene protocols, as well as our Week One schedule – please note that this is expected to change as soon as Week Two as we get increased access to Council facilities and group sizes increase to 20. At this stage there remains no firm date for a return to play, however mid-July is considered at this stage to be the earliest foreseeable start date, likely running until mid October. As we know more, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, a massive thanks to the Committee and Coaches for their efforts to help us make this first step to getting the kids back on the park and for all of our members for their patience during these very strange times we have been living in.

GO DOCKERS!

TRAINING PROTOCOLS
Training will have a Maximum of 10 participants per group (not including a coach or the minimum number of support staff who are reasonably required to manage the activity).
Groups cannot mix with each other and participants are not allowed to swap between groups.
Strictly no physical contact between players can occur (i.e. no tackling, no bumping, no marking contests).
Social distancing of 1.5m must be maintained at all times.
No access to club rooms, changerooms or wet areas can occur, other than the outside toilets which will be monitored.
Footballs and marking cones are the only equipment that can be used
If pair/group work is required, pairs must be consistent across each training session
The oval will be divided into two distinct areas where 2 x groups of 10 can train (i.e. 20 people max training at one time, not including a coach or the minimum number of support staff who are reasonably required to manage the activity).
Training will be limited to 45 mins
We will keep a log of all participants in attendance at each training session which we will in turn need to make available upon request by either the League, AFL Victoria or health authorities.

PARENTS/CAREGIVERS PROTOCOLS
Maximum of 1 parent/caregiver
Must remain outside the boundary line at all times and we would ask you remain in your cars please.
Please turn up only 5 mins before drop off and pick up.
If you have to get out of the car, for example to take your child directly to their nominated oval or go to the outside toilet, please observe social distancing rules at all times.
The theme is pretty much Get In, Train, Get Out.

HYGIENE PROTOCOLS
We will have alcohol-based hand sanitisers at all team training sessions, with players asked to use prior, during and following training.
All players must bring their own water bottles which are easily distinguishable, labelled and kept separate.
Players and coaches must not spit or clear nasal passages at small outdoor group training.
No high fives, handshakes, or other physical contact.
We will wipe all footballs with antibacterial wipes or alcohol-based sanitiser prior to and after each training sessions.
